<p>As far as I’m concerned, this Mother’s Day isn’t just for moms. I think it’s a day for everyone who cares about kids. And whether or not you have kids, you know that education is the fastest and surest way to change kids’ lives.</p><p>Moms across California have a big stake when it comes to making sure Marshall is our next State Superintendent. That’s why I started Moms for Marshall, which began on Facebook with the most grassroots goal you can imagine: to bring moms together from all walks of life who care deeply about education. </p><p>As moms, we are incredible influencers in our families and our communities and our voices matter! Moms help make our schools great by volunteering our time in classrooms, joining parent committees, serving on the PTA or school site council, donating money, hosting the bake sales and sponsoring student clubs, sports and activities. This campaign is another key way for moms to help California kids get a great education.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Marshall is extremely passionate about kids, and he believes in a kids-first system. Trust me when I say that things will look different with him as State Superintendent.</p><p>I have two kids – one in public school, and one who’s about to start kindergarten this fall. Like Marshall, I believe public schools can work. There’s so much talent and innovative spirit in California schools that we’re just not tapping into right now because of all the bureaucracy that stands in our way. </p><p>So, before I head out to my usual Mother’s Day brunch with the family, I plan to celebrate today by giving to Marshall’s campaign. To me, it represents what the holiday is all about.&nbsp;</p>
