<p>A “refreshingly independent voice,”–&nbsp;that’s how the <em>San Francisco Chronicle</em> referred to my husband when they endorsed him for State Superintendent of Public Instruction last night. I wanted to share the news with you right away.</p><p>Here’s a quick excerpt from the <em>San Francisco Chronicle</em> endorsement:</p>

<p><p>The state superintendent of public instruction should be leading the charge against the forces that are in the way of innovation, elevated standards and accountability&hellip; Marshall Tuck, who led efforts to turn around high-poverty, low-performing public schools in Los Angeles, would bring a long punch list of what needs to be done at the Department of Education.</p><p>&hellip;</p><p>While part of the superintendent's job is standing for reform, there are other important duties for the post&hellip; The 40-year-old Tuck has a background for success on this important administrative side of the job. In his charter and public school work, he was able to trim down baffling paperwork for principals preparing budgets and give parents a shorthand way to judge school success rates.</p></p>
