Application Engineer - Backend | |

We’re looking for an experienced application engineer to work on GitHub.com with a backend/infrastructure focus. You’ll work with our team of engineers to build and maintain features that ensure our site is fast, available, and meets the needs of our more than four million users. | |
Responsibilities | |
* Writing and reviewing application code | |
* Steering technical direction of projects | |
* Working with our support team to triage and debug technical support requests | |
* Working with our product team to define and prioritize projects | |
* Documenting the systems you help build | |
Qualifications | |
* 3+ years experience working on the backend of a web application at scale | |
* Experience with Git and GitHub | |
* SQL and general database knowledge | |
* Solid knowledge of testing principles | |
* Strong verbal and written communication skills | |
* Experience with operations in a large production environment | |
* Experience troubleshooting in production environments | |
Bonus | |
* Experience refactoring large-scale systems | |
* Experience building streaming APIs | |
* Distributed systems expertise | |
* Experience with CDNs (Fastly) | |
* Experience with RESTful API design | |
