Spanish American French Toast Pizza with a Chinese Twist is an interesting fusion dish that combines elements from different cuisines. Here's a recipe to create this unique dish:
Ingredients:
6 slices of white bread or French baguette
3 eggs
1 cup milk
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1/2 cup diced ham
1/2 cup diced bell peppers (green, red, yellow)
1/2 cup diced onions
1/2 cup canned pineapple chunks, drained
1/2 cup chopped Chinese sausage (Lap Cheong)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds
Instructions:
In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg until well combined.
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
Cut bread into 1-inch cubes and place in a shallow dish. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes and let them soak for a few minutes, turning occasionally to ensure even absorption.
In a large non-stick skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the soaked bread cubes and cook until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Transfer cooked French toast cubes to the prepared baking sheet and arrange them in a single layer to form a pizza crust.
Spread pizza sauce evenly over the French toast crust, leaving a small border around the edge.
In a separate bowl, mix together mozzarella and cheddar cheese. Sprinkle half of the cheese mixture over the sauce.
In the same skillet used for the French toast, cook the diced ham, bell peppers, onions, and Chinese sausage over medium heat until the vegetables are tender and the sausage is slightly crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
Distribute the cooked ham, bell peppers, onions, Chinese sausage, and pineapple chunks evenly over the cheese layer.
Sprinkle the remaining cheese mixture over the toppings.
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before cutting into slices.
Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and toasted sesame seeds. Serve warm and enjoy!
