The Jack Henry Office of the CTO is looking for a Senior Staff Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to drive reliability and resiliency practices across multiple delivery teams, products, and services. We do this through cross-team engagement, managing incidents, and promoting reliability and resiliency practices across the organization. As an SRE you will help set expectations around availability, correctness, and performance while building and sharing expertise with the organization. Jack Henry’s teams own all their code from creation to production, so you will not run it for them. You will be helping the engineering teams understand the reliability contexts in which their services are in. This role will fit well for someone with a passion for working collaboratively to solve issues across teams and domains while having a bit of variety across the work.
Our Work:
Own the reliability roadmap leading large scale change initiatives towards more reliable and resilient systems.
Improve our incident response and post-incident reviews helping form a plan for preventative measures, improvement, and learning.
Proactively find sources of instability, assess, and mitigate risks within our systems.
Improve Jack Henry services’ availability, reliability, and observability to reduce downtime and toil.
Provide guidance and assistance to other teams on managing the availability and performance of mission-critical services.
Operationalize learnings by collaborating across teams and domains to spread knowledge.
What you will need to have:
Minimum of 10 years of experience developing software
Curiosity about how complex sociotechnical systems operate when failure is inevitable.
Experience with cloud platforms (i.e., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure) running Kubernetes and microservices architecture.
Experience designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.
Able to travel 5% for internal meetings, workshops, and/or training.
Bonuses:
Systematic problem-solving approach with excellent writing and presentation skills
Development experience with Node.js, Go, Scala, or C#.
Experience with Postgres, Google Cloud offerings, Kafka, or Istio.
