This game is a love-hate for me. The whole "each player has their unique story" thing they wanted to do is an abject failure, as there's no coherent plot or even sense of progression. You're just blowing sh-- up and once in a while the guy on the radio tells you you done good. But if you don't try to overthink things, the game's bloody fun.
I've no idea what I'm supposed to do and there's not a soul in this world I care about. I'm being given side missions every 5 seconds. Your allies never shut up, so I usually just shoot them. It's hard to tell who's who from afar, so I already killed enough civilians to fill a small country (though there's still a limit that if you kill 3 civies in a short time you insta-die).
The map looks tiny, but it feels a lot bigger due to lots of mountains and lots of forests. Some of the villains are interesting (I just can't stand John and Jacob though). I'm just mesmerized by Faith and want to see more of her. The Father is so soothing, you momentarily lapse and forget he's the main villain. The whole Eerie Serenity atmosphere is very well done and, as a first in Far Cry series, the music is actually pleasant to listen to and some pieces are just heavenly.
Tonight, I just flew around on the helicopter and shot shi-- with guns and hellicopter rockets, then got up real high, jumped out from it, flew on wingsuit, then switched to the parachute, saw enemy hellicopter nearby, shot it with a machine gun and saw its pilot fall out very close to me. When I landed, I blew up a reaping truck by throwing a grenade inside it as its automatic door was closing, and then set a badger on fire with the repair tool. It was fun watching that thing panic and run around.
I think, overall, this game is fun. As long as you don't take it too seriously and don't think much about what's happening, you can enjoy yourself.
