We're video geeks, developers of the world's leading most feature-rich and flexible video management platform. Open Source! As a the Developer Advocate, you are the connection to our community, our contributors and our technology partners. You will be the role model Kalturian.
Developer Advocates connect with and educate developers about the Kaltura platform and all its products, they write code sample, produce trainings and guidelines while strategizing with the marketing team and building partner relationships with the business team. You will work with app developers, partners and core contributors.
You will be expected to be a developer who thrives on the cutting edge of technology, loves building web applications and solve new problems. You will also work with and lead our partners who push our technology to its limits and build solutions that amplify the Kaltura platform and create unique video experiences. Your job is to make developers, partners and contributors successful as they implement Kaltura, and build Kaltura apps that showcase the potential and flexibility of the Kaltura platfor.
As the Community Manager, you will be the public face of Kaltura representing the community, company, products and vision. You will be expected to hold and speak at conferences, on panels, at user groups, be actively blogging & on social media, and engage with press and bloggers.
- Identify opportunities to promote the Kaltura platform within developer communities and attend and speak at conferences
- Organize meetups and conferences, and form partnerships with other groups and events
- Own and organize the Kaltura developer community and sites (http://kaltura.org, http://html5video.org)
- Champion user support to the developer community on forums and IRC (#kaltura on freenode.net)
- Liaison feedback from developers and partners on the API and Products with the core teams
- Liaison and coordinate developer contributions and issue reports on GitHub and the forums
- Create code samples, training material and set guidelines for developers and contributors on how to use and extend Kaltura
- Fantastic communication, public speaking, and social media skills
- Ability to listen and capture technical requirements and communicate them back to team
- Experience participating and running open source developer communities, meetups and user groups
- Ability to discuss the design and architecture of web applications and APIs
- At least 2 years of experience as a developer with the LAMP Stack
- Experience building rich web applications using PHP, JavaScript, CSS and HTML5
- Willingness to travel to… anywhere!
- Experience with Kaltura or other media/video platforms
- Experience with Python, Java, Mobile Apps on iOS or Android, Adobe Flex
- Experience contributing or managing to open source projects
- Manage or contribute to an active blog or articles on known publications (please provide links)
- If you're based in NYC or willing to move to NYC
- Experience with the following: FFMPEG, CDNs, Distributed Batch Programming, DevOps, Bash Scripting
