I got the same error in an up to date IE11 (Windows 7 32bit & Windows 8.1 64bit, both fully updated),
Safari 7.0.1 (OSX Mavericks) and Firefox 26.0 (OSX Mavericks).
Each session started by navigating to http://squareup.com/canada, which redirected to http://squareup.com/ca, which linked to
https://squareup.com/begin/user/new?country_code=ca.
