- it's best to replace nodes, don't do apt/yum upgrades.
- both would work, but VM replacment forces me to think of it as immutable and prevents making pets
- if you don't want to update join scripts for manager IP's, then do something like Elastic IP's so manager IP's won't change.
Lets assume you have 3 managers and 3 workers on 17.06 and you want to update to 17.12
- managers: m1, m2, m3
- compile ffmpeg for arm https://github.com/fiorix/ffmpeg-arm
- create youtube 'live event'. get rtmp url + session id
- run this:
raspivid -o - -t 0 -vf -hf -fps 30 -b 6000000 | ffmpeg -re -ar 44100 -ac 2 -acodec pcm_s16le -f s16le -ac 2 -i /dev/zero -f h264 -i - -vcodec copy -acodec aac -ab 128k -g 50 -strict experimental -f flv rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/<SESSION>
you can tweak -b
and -fps
to your liking. the settings above work well for 1080p. by not specifying width or height we get the full 1920x1080 resolution from the raspi camera

I'll use Google Apps as a SAML provider for the purpose of this gist.
The process is triggered from the AES Console and required multiple steps to configure the IAM Roles and chosen IDP
