Suggested reading order for Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere

To start we can always get the reading order from the author, but that list is not exhaustive.

Sanderson's series can be approached as a whole in any order, but there are some extra benefits from reading in a specific order. Easier to recognize some easter eggs, timelines more pronounced etc.

Two main entry points are tied in my mind, but come down to personal preferences around reading "Epic" novels. If a huge tome is off-putting, I'd start with the Mistborn series, with The Final Empire. Very approachable novel, though it skews a bit more to the Young Adult genre than the others. If you're hooked after this, you're ready for Stormlight Archive at any point. Trust me, you'll wish the books were longer. 😄

So with that said, here is my preferred reading order for the Cosmere. Keep in mind many of the stories towards the end skew closer to being one-shots (for now) and can be slotted in-between other series. As a bonus, most of these are found in Arcanum Unbounded a collection of these short stories/novellas.

Books found in Arcanum Unbounded will have (AU) next to them.

The names in parenthesis like (Scadrial) are just a way to reference the planet the story takes place on.

Mistborn Era 1 (Scadrial)

Mistborn Era 2 (Scadrial)

Stormlight Archive (Roshar)

(Nalthis)

(Sel)

White Sand (Taldain)

Threnody

(First of the Sun)
