Q: I want to download a server from one of the ATM packs. Where do I find these files?
Server files can be found in the "Additional Files" on curseforge.com (NOTE: not just "curse.com").
First browse to the specific modpack's curseforge page, then go to "files".
Find the version of the pack you'd like the server files for (usually the latest / most-recent is best)
Click the small "+1" or "more" to see the download for the server files. (should be a zip file several hundreds of megabytes large).
After extracting, you can run ServerStart (.bat for Windows, .sh for Linux/bash) to start the server process.
NOTE: Even if you will be uploading to a host it's recomended to run ServerStart at least once so it can download and setup necessary files that aren't included in the original download.
If you use the serverstarter version of the server files however, this step won't be required.
Q: I want to apply for whitelisting in one of the public servers. Where can I apply and how will I know my application is processed?
https://goo.gl/forms/vAyHpCRvFNg2PIUB3
Whitelist applications may be delayed or postponed, please see pinned messages for more details, you will be contacted once your application is processed.
PLEASE do not ping staff for followups to whitelist applications!!! (This may negatively impact your application)
Q: I want to host my own server. Which host is the best host for my needs? #AD
A: First Make sure you allocate enough ram: https://i.imgur.com/zfhkcTJ.png
If this doesn't work, go to #help-desk and ask for help. Make sure to have the following things ready:
How did you crash? Was it on boot? Loading the world? Crafting an item?
Did you modify the pack in any way?
Make sure you paste your crash log in http://gist.github.com and have it ready if a mod asks for it
If you can load into your world, press F3 then take a screenshot of the screen.
Note: You should do this before asking for help in #help-desk. Not doing the above steps could lead to difficulty in resolving your issue!!
Q: My game is lagging, any Java args I could add?
Recomended JVM args for ATM3 server and/or client(suggested RAM: ~5gb to ~8gb)
NOTE: These are just a blanket/generic suggestion and what helps one player might not help another. Your mileage may vary, use at your own discretion
Q: Cool, I know the java args now, but how do I change them in twitch?
In twitch, at the top right, click your name and a dropdown should appear. Within this, click Settings and then on the left side of the menu that comes up click Minecraft. The first thing to change is the Launch Method from Native to Jar.
Next, under Java Version open the dropdown box and click on a java version that is either Java: 1.8.0.171 (64 Bit) or newer. The java version needs to be 64 bit, not 32 bit. If this version of java is not listed, the latest version of java can be downloaded from https://java.com/inc/BrowserRedirect1.jsp
When getting java, go to the all downloads section and grab the offline 64 bit version. The red button on the main java page sometimes grabs the 32 bit version instead of 64 bit. Next, to change the amount of memory Minecraft uses, go to Maximum Memory Allocation and move the slider bar to the desired amount of memory. It is recommended that at least 5.5 Gb (~5500 Mb on the slider) for the modpack. If using a resource pack, more will be needed.(bearbeitet)
Q: I noticed my java is outdated, any help on how to update it?
Refer to this usefull guide on how to update java on Twitch or the normal Launcher.
Q: I have a existing server, how do I update it?
Method 1
Use the ServerStarter version of the serverpacks.
To update to a new version replace the modpackUrl line in the server-setup-config.yaml with the new URL of the version you want to update to.
Alternatively you can replace the whole server-setup-config.yaml with the newly downloaded version.
After those steps the server should automatically update on the next restart.
Method 2
Download the server files zip for the newest version, unzip it somewhere and run the serverstart script file
(Running the batch first locally lets it download the proper Forge version and libraries)
Run a backup on the server just in case before changing anything then stop/shutdown the server
On your "real" server, delete (or move/rename) the forge universal .jar and the folders scripts, mods, config, libraries and any other folders/files that were included in the original serverfiles zip (before the batch file setup was run)
(if files are included in the server files zip download they usually contain different stuff from one version to the next)
From the downloaded, extracted files after running the script, you can now copy the relevant files/folders that you removed in the previous step over to your server
(Dont' skip the previous step -- they need to be removed before new ones are copied or duplicate files can and will happen and cause trouble)
Once the folders/files/Force have been copied/uploaded, you should be able to restart the server
(if you use a host, you might need to pick the new Forge universal Jar in the dashboard as the file to be launched)
Method 3
Similar steps as above, you could also simply remove everything except the world folder from your server and copy/upload the entire contents of the server zip files (still needing to run serverstart first to fetch forge) this is a more comprehensive update but can involve more files to download/upload and could lose some minor stuff specific to your server like serverside journeymap data or ftbu ranks configuration etc.
Q: I am having issues with twitch, any alternatives?
Q: My Game is having performance issues, but I don't know why?
FPS
FPS (frames-per-second) lag is on your client and usually GPU doesn't make a big difference. Avoid shaders and resourcepacks when troubleshooting FPS. Adequate allocated RAM and custom JVM start arguments can mitigate FPS lag in some cases. Many users find that "animated textures" cause a massive FPS issue and this can be disabled if OptiFine is installed. Optifine can also help increase FPS for most cases and lastly, the mipmaps setting should be kept at 0 or 1 when having FPS concerns.
TPS
TPS (ticks-per-second) lag is when the total number of ticks-per-second drop below 20. Minecraft is hard-coded to give a single game tick up to 50 milliseconds. You want a low tick TIME (i.e. under 50ms) because once that time takes longer than 50ms the game has to pause to finish processing the previous ticks or skip some ticks entirely. Even if tick time is far less than 50ms, the TPS will never be higher than 20, thus a TPS of 20 is considered "perfect." There are many things that can affect TPS and finding the cause can be difficult to track down. Here's some common causes:
Overflowing items/mobs
Large/Complex storage networks
Worldgen (exploring new chunks)
Anything in unreasonable excess
Basic troubleshooting of TPS lag should include making sure enough RAM is allocated and using GC-tuning JVM start-args. Power down / turn off RS/AE2 networks, kill all items on the ground: /kill @e[type=item] or /cofh killall item, and kill all hostile creatures: /cofh killall. If these make a noticeable difference then you have some clues to start troubleshooting. Even if briefly better because in the case of an overflowing farm they can quickly overflow again shortly after being cleared.
Some mods/tools that can help find sources of TPS lag if the basic steps haven't helped are:
Q: My Twitch is how installed in the OneDrive folder, how do I fix that?
In twitch, at the top right, click your name and a dropdown should appear. Within this, click Settings and then on the left side of the menu that comes up click Minecraft. Click Change and change the file path to an area that has nothing to do with OneDrive. Sometimes windows will default the Documents folder to be on a OneDrive share so be careful to investigate that even if it doesn't appear to be OneDrive related, that windows settings can be making it so behind the scenes as Curse installs to Documents and windows makes Documents a part of OneDrive unless you tell it not to. You can then go and copy the files inside the Minecraft folder from the old location to the new location or alternatively reinstall packs. It appears the issue arises when OneDrive becomes full.
Q: I am having issues with twitch, any alternatives? You can simply drag and drop a modpack into multimc; no need to click create new instance and browse for the file.
