Living with American healthcare

2022-6-28

There was once a frog who had been captured by his country and put in a cage. As he was a very scared and naive frog, he believed it when told it was for his own good.  The frog was happy to be safe and not have to worry about predators. He loved the easy food, fully processed, preserved and always available – even if unhealthy. Slowly he put on weight, didn’t exercise, and became very sick. His chronic conditions caused him to see the veterinarian and go to the hospital often. But the hospitals that he went to were focused on rules,

I have written extensively on inverted totalitarianism, that being the once nascent, now entrenched form of government that truly controls the levers of federal power in the United States. This behemoth has turned the USA into a “managed democracy”; a bureaucracy which cannot be held accountable by the elected representatives of the people. Sometimes called the 4th estate, this monster is also referred to as the “deep state” the civil service, or the administrative state.

Inverted totalitarianism does not have an authoritarian leader, but instead is run by a non-transparent group of bureaucrats. This unelected, invisible ruling class runs the country from within. They are easily influenced by corporate interests due to both the lure of powerful jobs after federal employment and the capture of our legislative bodies by the lobbyists serving concealed corporate interests.

One element of inverted totalitar

Measures of homebuying competition are plateauing as early-stage demand posts its biggest annual decline since April 2020. However, mortgage rates may have leveled off, which could prevent demand from dropping even further.

The housing market is sending clearer signals that the pandemic-driven housing frenzy is coming to an end. Nearly one in five (19.1%) home sellers dropped their price during the four week period ending May 22—the highest level since October 2019. Measures of competition including the typical listing’s time on market, the share of homes pending sale within one week and the share of homes sold above list price have all plateaued. Mortgage-purchase applications were at a level on par with June 2020, and the number of homebuyers touring and offering on homes, as measured by the Redfin Homebuyer Demand Index, posted its largest annual decline since April 2020.

“The picture of a softening housing market is becoming more clear, especially to home sellers who are

A Question from Mikey

What would happen If interest rates normalize to historical average within the next 2-3 years?

Mikey assumes the interest on US debt will increase dramatically, which will lead to even more debt... In other words, a snowball effect that creates a stagflation environment! (NOT GOOD)

My argument is that we are in uncharted inflationary conditions the likes we have not seen since the 1970's, but our current conditions are far worse than the 70's and the FED has NO economically sound options to work with.

>The U.S. national debt has just eclipsed $30 trillion, and the country is faced with a debt/deficit crisis that can only be resolved via unprecedented levels of inflation.

fonts & typography

remember : don't use more than 2 or 3 fonts (well, if you're a designer, you'll know what to do with more fonts), and never, please, never include Comic Sans MS in those 3 fonts.

  • google fonts : free & ready to use on the web
  • adobe fonts : not free, but a ton of stuff, if you're willing to dive into design, may be worth it
  • font awesome : icons as fonts
  • typography cheatsheet : this is just because I can't help myself but put some typography knowledge in all the resources I give.
  • font pair : helps you pairing fonts together
  • typo samples : samples of fonts in action together
