My tourist's guide to London based on my trip in 2022-09. Will update after my next visit.

Things to Do

  • Walks.com for Walking Tours
    • Seriously the Most Interesting Part of the Trip
      • Jack the Ripper (best one)
      • Old Palace Quarter
      • Old Westminster
      • Famous Square Mile
  • British Museum
    • Obvious, huge, literally was there from open to close.
    • Perhaps not the most child friendly.
  • Museum of London
    • Smaller, more child friendly.
    • Very interesting parts about The Fire of London.
  • St. Paul’s Cathedral
    • 500 Steps to the Top
    • Amazing View and Architecture
  • Churchill War Rooms
    • Very, very well preserved.
    • Self-lead tour.
    • If you are at all a WWII history buff this will do it for you.
  • Science Museum
    • Very child friendly, great exhibits for adults too.
    • Quite large.
  • Natural History Museum
    • Not my favorite, but not exactly my topic of interest either.
    • Lots of samples that were pretty rare.
    • Massive mineral collection.
  • London Transport Museum
    • Private collection of all kinds of transportation equipment.
    • WWII vehicles, to every type of Tube vehicle used.
  • Covent Garden
    • Great food and sightseeing.
    • Beautiful Apple Store.
  • Top of the Shard
    • Little spendy, but the best view of the whole trip.
    • Do it near the end, it’s fun to try and find places you’ve been during your trip.
  • Harrod’s
    • Absolute maze, some amazing stores.
    • Great tea and cafe area.
  • Hyde Park
    • Big, beautiful, lots of places to sit.
  • Imperial War Museum
    • Chilling section on WWII & the Holocaust, maybe not for kids.
    • Lots of vehicles on display and a V2 rocket on display.
  • Greenwich Observatory
    • The most moving for me personally as a maths student.
    • In a beautiful park and a great tour.
  • Greenwich Market
    • Great food, go to the fudge shop.
  • Thames Clipper
    • Water taxi run by Uber, fun way to get up and down the river like to Greenwich.
  • London Eye
    • TBH, pretty overrated.
    • Good view, but expensive for what it is.
  • Tower of London
    • Basically a whole village so a little overwhelming.
    • Seeing the jewels was pretty wild, long line though.
  • Regent Street
    • High shopping district, fun to walk around.
    • May not be for everyone.

Notable Food

  • Tea at Fortnum & Mason
    • I have never had customer service like this before, come hungry.
    • I felt underdressed but no one said anything about it.
  • CUT
    • Very high end steak house, I still think about it.
  • Jungle Cave
    • Insane spot on Piccadilly. It was a Rain Forest Cafe that was closing and someone bought it to keep it around. It’s like 3 floors underground. Food was what’d you expect, but wild location.
  • Shatesbury Ave Between Chinatown and SoHo - It was all amazing.
    • Pepe Italian Street Food - Pizza and Cannoli
    • Poppie’s Fish and Chip - The Go-To
    • Doughnut Time - All the Names are Puns
