Glowsquid Voting Reasons

Voting for Glowsquid hoping that it might add entity light sources was disproven by both devs ||(A dev saying they want version parody and mobile couldn't handle that as well as a dev talking on a YT stream)|| and logic ||(They'd be too lazy to re-do the entire lighting engine just for a single squid, and in MC Earth where it came from it literally is just a retextured squid that doesn't emmit light)||

Another reason was hoping it might add something useful, but that could be said about any of the other contestants and had no logical founding.

The only reason you should've voted for it was if you genuinely liked how it looks, which was definitely a minority (Most people voted under either false believes or because they're a dream stan)

Glowsquid End Result

Glow Ink Sacks are still affected by light levels lmao. Anyways making signs glow and glowing item frames could've been added by themselves with glowstone or shroomlight being used instead.

Infact if you look at the glowing item frame texture you'll notice there is not a trace of blue and it looks like it was crafted using glowstone/shroomlight. Same can apply for glowing sign text.

Glow Lichen is completely separate from the glow squid, they were just added in the same snapshot because they both glow. Mojang already promised to add a new light source, and glow lichen can arguably be in the caves & cliffs theme, the only thing Glowsquid has in common is that they both glow.

Chillager

Guaranteed new special attack and new projectile. Although you can argue that it "won't fit into minecraft" or "isn't as cool" (motherfucker it's an ice attack wdym) it's still guaranteed to be the cause of something new, Glowsquid it is easy to argue that it's features would've been added without it.

You should've voted for Chillager if you wanted an interactable mob and arguably bringing more life and adventure to the mountains.

Piss Cow

Guaranteed new functionality with bees, people thoerized if it might add a new flower or a new way to farm honey/flowers.

Although you can argue "but mooshrooms are special you can't just do that!" well that can easily be said about literally any other contestant. You should've voted for piss cow if you wanted new mechanics/interactibility (although it probably would've lost it's novelty pretty fast if it doesn't also bring farming mechanics and a new flower)

Summary: Either contestant would've added more than Glowsquid, as the features in Glowsquid's snapshot all could've easily been added without the glowsquid.

Here's a different thing from Hinge
If iceologer won:

  • Glow lichen is added to caves still, probably under a different name
  • We get a cool new mountain structure
  • Danger to the new mountains

If Moobloom won:

  • Glow lichen under a different name
(cave daisies? green vines with glowing yellow spots? no, but could be cool)
  • Cool interaction for bees to make candles faster

Since glow squid won:

  • Caves have a cool new mob.. I guess
  • Glow dye is neat, though its functionality could have been given to glowstone dust or shroomlight
