What's the use of the staging area in git? on Stackoverflow (10 min)
The idea of the staging area is frequently one of the trickiest concepts to wrap your head around when you're first learning git. Read the question and answers (or do your own Googling on the git staging area). Then, create your own metaphor comparing the staging area to something in real life.
- Type your metaphor below: I'm not super sure, but I imagine it being similar to a package that you want to send to a friend. The box is what your letters/items would go, so if you decide you're done packing it, you can mail it off. It's not committed/sent yet, but it contains the stuff that can be sent when need be.
If you have any questions, comments, or confusions that you would an instructor to address, list them below:
@ZoeKHarvey Overall, great work on this. Your metaphor certainly works.
Also, as far as slack shortcuts go, the one I use most is cmd + t - it allows you to find channels or dms very quickly. Would definitely recommend giving it a try!
