Prerequisites, i.e. the most important things

0. Time of writing: Jan 18, 2023. The following assume you're trying to install CUDA on WSL2 Ubuntu.

1. Check support matrix first before you install any version of CUDA, because chances are the latest CUDA does not have cuDNN support yet, then you'll have to re-install older version if you found out later.

   At the time of writing, the latest cuDNN version is 8.7 and it supports CUDA 11.8.

2. Windows 10 must be build 20145 or later.

Disclaimer: I am not a Windows Admin and I'm not even that good with PowerShell.

I wanted to be able to SSH into my Windows laptop directly into Linux. I also wanted to disable password authentication and only allow public key (RSA in my case) authentication.

Recently, Let's Encrypt launched free wildcard certificates. While this is good news in and of itself, as it removes one of the last remaining reasons for expensive commercial certificates, I've unfortunately seen a lot of people dangerously misunderstand what wildcard certificates are for.
