✏️ UX Sketching and Prototyping 101 📄

img_1058

💻 We spend way too much time in front of screens and in meetings. Writing and talking are limited tools and they don't do the best job showing what we mean.

✍️ Sketching with pen and paper to the rescue: it's fast, cheap and mobile. It helps clearing up misunderstandings before they happen. It informs conversations and speeds up design, prioritisation and decision making processes.

🧞‍♀️ The best thing: anybody can learn the basics in an hour. You're "not a visual type"? You "cannot a draw a straight line if your life depended on it"? This workshop was designed specifically for you <3

How to easily launch a temporary one-off git server from any local repository, to enable a peer-to-peer git workflow.

Launch a one-off git server from any local repository.

I [tweeted this already][1] but I thought it could use some expansion:

Enable decentralized git workflow: git config alias.serve "daemon --verbose --export-all --base-path=.git --reuseaddr --strict-paths .git/"

Say you use a git workflow that involves working with a core "official" repository that you pull and push your changes from and into. I'm sure many companies do this, as do many users of git hosting services like Github.

Say that server, or Github, goes down for a bit.

building the right things, the right way: combining user story maps, design systems and rapid prototyping

Keeping the bird’s eye view on your project or product is vital to avoid bike-shedding. Keeping an eye on the next business goal is also vital though, to avoid running out money. And finally, what could be more vital than stressing all the tiny details until everything is right?

We will explore how a small set of methods and tools keeps users, business, design and development interconnected – from writing the inital pitch to sending that "sad to see you go" email. If you care about working together across roles and teams in a user-centered way, and if you see value in an holistic, sustainable approach, this talk is for you.

As mentioned at the end: I really appreciate AgileBits' effort and openness on writing and publishing this post – thanks for sharing! <3

I still hope it is ok to critisize what jumps out of the page for me...

I say, until someone says "kill'em all!" we can have a fruitful discussion with him, even if he voted for the fucking AFD.

if somebody says "kill'em all!", they belong to jail for sedition.

the other things you mention are off-topic.

we are talking about someone who has put a lot of effort into authoring fascist writings and is actively pushing a racist/fascist movement. that is what i currently care about, that is what i want to talk about and that was the context this discussion came from.

Design Ops – Design Systems Ops for the rest of us

As many others I have read @kaelig's post Introducing Design Systems Ops with great joy. My head was in danger of falling off from all the nodding and seeing my past years' work reflected in it <3

But there is this one thing that doesn't sit right with me:

who will bridge the gap between the design systems team and the engineering team?

It implies that there is a "design systems team". That might be a thing for very large companies – to quote Jina's presentation on Living Design Systems:
