As an Open-Source (OSS) contributor, I volunteer to write periodic updates about the AsyncAPI Docs ecosystem.
I want to note that this is not an official AsyncAPI Initiative update, but a personal summary I'm volunteering to write up for the OSS community. The goal is to let you know what's going on in the Docs area and how the Docs area has been teaming with other areas within the AsyncAPI Initiative. ๐๐๐ฝ
It's been my dream to have the "power" to give people of color, women, and diverse minorities tech opportunities that provide mentorship, fun, and immersive learning. It's humbling to finally have the opportunity to do just that via AsynAPI's GSoD 2022 program. ๐
Today, I'm thrilled to announce the selected AsyncAPI's GSoD 2022 candidates (from a pool of 200+ applicants!).
Please join me in congratulating (alphabetical order):
- ๐ง๐พ Anisat Akinbani (Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ): Information Architecture, parent GSoD project.
- ๐๐พโโ๏ธ Florence Njeri (Kenya ๐ฐ๐ช): Generator Tool & Tools Docs, child GSoD project.
- ๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ป Karuna (India ๐ฎ๐ณ): Information Architecture, parent GSoD project.
- ๐จ๐ฟโ๐ป Nelson Michael (Nigeria ๐ณ๐ฌ): Information Architecture, parent GSoD project.
- ๐๐พโโ๏ธ Pratik (India ๐ฎ๐ณ): Generator Tool & Tools Docs, child GSoD project.
- ๐ฉ๐ฟโ๐ป Thulie (Cape Town ๐ฟ๐ฆ): Information Architecture, parent GSoD project.
Congratulations on your accomplishment; you deserve to feel proud and excited! Out of 200+ applicants, you made a great impression. We are humbled and ready to support you in working with us this year.

Whenever you need 1:1 help, Lukasz and I are your GSoD mentors, always available via DM and zoom calls. (Keep in mind that we're onboarding 6 new people in this program, so please allow for longer response times to DMs and PRs/issue comments.)
In December, we're waiting till EOY when Google sends us the full $10,000 GSoD grant amount to divide and pay it equally amongst our 6 TWs.
When the time comes, all you'll have to do is submit an expense to the AsyncAPI Open Collective: https://opencollective.com/asyncapi/expenses/new

A BIG thank you ๐ค to all of our OSS contributors; without you, there would be no OSS initiative! ๐๐
There is always something to do for OSS Docs, and it's no different for us! ๐
If you'd like to get involved, pick up an issue from our AsyncAPI GH Board.
That's it for now. See you in 2 weeks! -A.Q. ๐ฉ๐ปโ๐ป y Canela ๐โ๐ฆบ
