Improved swipe gestures plugin for jQuery

Improved swipe gestures plugin for jQuery

What was changed (compared to the original v0.1.2):

  • Don’t modify the default settings internally.
  • Merge the options recursively (deep copy) so that the custom threshold values actually get used.
  • Allow overriding the options globally through $.fn.swipe.options.
  • Use namespaced jQuery events (using the swipe namespace) instead of DOM2 addEventListener to prevent errors in old IEs.
  • Simplified and optimized code.
  • Changed swipeLeft and swipeRight functions to be called within the context of the bound element. Thanks, @kswedberg!

Launch Sublime Text 2 from the Mac OS X Terminal

Sublime Text 2 ships with a CLI called subl (why not "sublime", go figure). This utility is hidden in the following folder (assuming you installed Sublime in /Applications like normal folk. If this following line opens Sublime Text for you, then bingo, you're ready.

open /Applications/Sublime\ Text\ 2.app/Contents/SharedSupport/bin/subl

You can find more (official) details about subl here: http://www.sublimetext.com/docs/2/osx_command_line.html

Setup OS X 10.7 w/ homebrew, oh-my-zsh, rvm, nvm

Setup new Mac with OSX Lion from scratch

These commands are good as of 2011-07-27.

Install Xcode 4

The download/install takes a while so start it first. When it finishes downloading you will still need to run it to complete installation.

Really the nicest choice for a terminal on OSX right now, especially with Lion style full screen support.

Open Conference Expectations

Open Conference Expectations

This document lays out some baseline expectations between conference speakers and conference presenters. The general goal is to maximize the value the conference provides to its attendees and community and to let speakers know what they might reasonably expect from a conference.

We believe that all speakers should reasonably expect these things, not just speakers who are known to draw large crowds, because no one is a rockstar but more people should have the chance to be one. We believe that conferences are better -- and, dare we say, more diverse -- when the people speaking are not just the people who can afford to get themselves there, either because their company paid or they foot the bill themselves. Basically, this isn't a rock show rider, it's some ideas that should help get the voices of lesser known folks heard.

These expectations should serve as a starting point for discussion between speaker and organizer. They are not a list of demands; they are a list of rea
