Description: Third son of Erasistratus the Olive-Grower, Thessalus is gifted yet
lazy. If his birth order were not enough to see him practically disinherited,
his less-than-conscientious approach to the family business has surely done the
job.

And yet by the grace of the gods, he is naturally brutally strong, a prodigy of
the town, in fact. At parties, people are always asking him to lift the biggest
boulder he can find and see how far he can throw it. Big Markos, the best staff
fighter on the island, says he has nothing left to teach him.

Still, he is a friend to all, enemy to none, at least as long as someone has a
skin of wine. And he is generous to a fault, so that wine-bearing worthy is him,
often as not. A true _bon viveur_, he can sing and play the lute; better, in
fact, when he's had a few clay cups of fresh red. In fact, he has spent so much
time acting harmless that he comes off as truly being harmless. Even when he
wins a wrestling match or a bout of fisticuffs, he somehow gives the impression
of doing it by accident.

An olive grower needs just enough arithmetic and writing to do basic accounts,
and Thessalus was never the best student to begin with, so although perhaps he
can fumble his way through some ledgers or street signs, books are a closed
book. Instead, he gets his philosophy the old-fashioned way: by talking to
people about it. Carried on the wind of each intellectual fad, he cheerfully
listens to lectures and has spirited and factually-incorrect debates about them
afterward, never letting a ray of true insight penetrate his brain.
