  2. Use this link to sign-up for a Student Account on CartoDB
  3. Complete Online mapping for beginners
  4. Create your first map in CartoDB (after the academy). Do it in the form of a SYNMAP. Put it in the context of your topic. Write-up the Lie your map tells and the Story it supports. Here is the video and here are some font images to use, or make your own better
  5. Create a map that represents you or your world for the rest of your day. The tools you use to make it can be anything pencil to legos to javascript. Don’t forget to frame it in the context of your topic! Map + writeup
  6. Read Chapter 1, 2, 3 in How to Lie with Maps
