WSL 2 Cisco AnyConnect Networking Workaround

WSL 2 Cisco AnyConnect Networking Workaround

Overview

WSL 2 uses a Hyper-V Virtual Network adapter. Network connectivity works without any issue when a VPN is not in use. However when a Cisco AnyConnect VPN session is established Firewall Rules and Routes are added which breaks connectivity within the WSL 2 VM. This issue is tracked WSL/issues/4277

Below outline steps to automatically configure the Interface metric on VPN connect and update DNS settings (/etc/resolv.conf) on connect/disconnect.

Build, make ready to run and dramatically shrink .net 5.0 lambda docker image size by using alpine
#FROM public.ecr.aws/lambda/dotnet:5.0
#
#WORKDIR /var/task
#
## This COPY command copies the .NET Lambda project's build artifacts from the host machine into the image.
## The source of the COPY should match where the .NET Lambda project publishes its build artifacts. If the Lambda function is being built
## with the AWS .NET Lambda Tooling, the `--docker-host-build-output-dir` switch controls where the .NET Lambda project
## will be built. The .NET Lambda project templates default to having `--docker-host-build-output-dir`
## set in the aws-lambda-tools-defaults.json file to "bin/Release/net5.0/linux-x64/publish".

Running on Docker for Windows

Localstack comes with a docker-compose file that won't quite work when you're running the (linux) container in docker for Windows.

Two changes need to be made:

The docker.sock volume won't work on windows

We can just comment that line out:
