Mod 1 - Week 5

Habits Reflection:

How have you seen yourself become more aware of your habits? Have you tried implementing anything new? What have the results been?

I am continuing the healthy habits that I started in week 1 and have reflected on previously in this journal. One recent addition is that I am encouraging project teammates to be communicative and clear about expectations for time, meetings, etc.

Design Thinking Reflection: Cultivating Beginner’s Mind

Mod 1 Week 4:

Habits Reflection:

  1. How have you seen yourself become more aware of your habits? Have you tried implementing anything new? What have the results been? Start Where You Are (Empathize with the user – you)

Because time management and intentionality are so important to meeting the demands of Turing, I have closely examined my habits and routines. My daily morning routine, which is on a three day exercise rotation, is something that I implemented at the start of Turing to make sure that was still getting the mental and physical health boost from exercise. I have also started taking a short walk, even just around my block, during any break that is 10 minutes or longer.

Week 2 - Building Your Compass

Power of self-reflection

  • What is challenging about self-reflection?

Finding the time for it is difficult. It can also be hard to be honest with yourself. Also, sometimes I get negative and hard on myself.

  • How can you continue to build the habit of self-reflection at Turing?

These weekly journal exercises will surely inspire greater reflection. I also like to have reflective conversations throughout the week with my partner.

Mod 0 Questions

1. When you've worked towards a goal in the past, what systems or tools have been helpful for you in accomplishing that goal? How could you adapt those same systems/tools to use while at Turing?

In the past I have used organization, planning, and clear deadlines to reach my goals. I worked primarily in public education from 2007 to 2020, which is a hectic working environment. I used clearly marked and organized folders (both paper and digital) to keep track of key documents and tools that I used at work. This included using my GoogleDrive and GoogleDocs, Spreadsheets, etc. In terms of planning and deadlines, I regularly utilized my online calendars to track meetings and upcoming deadlines. I also kept a paper journal with a "To do" list that was always visible on my desk. I plan to apply this same approach to organization and planning while I am in Turing so that I can keep all relevant files and materials organized, and so that I can stay on top of
