What is Annotum2Go? | |
------------------------------ | |
Annotum2Go is a self-contained version of Annotum based on Timo Haberkern's Server2Go CD-Rom Webserver. | |
It also includes Firefox Portable from PortableApps | |
See http://annotum.wordpress.com for more info on Annotum. | |
See the readme-server2go.txt file for more information about Server2Go -- and please send Timo a donation | |
if you find it useful! The documentation is available via the 'server configuration' link after starting Annotum2Go. | |
If you have problems starting the server you can start it directly under htdocs/documentaion/documentation.html | |
Server2Go supports Apache 2.2, PHP5, SQLite and MySQL. | |
See FirefoxPortable/Other/Source/readme.txt for more information about Firefox Portable. | |

About this Annotum version | |
------------------------------ | |
This distribution contains a pre-release version of the Annotum WordPress theme. It contains bugs and should not be used | |
for a production system. | |
Please note that certain significant pieces of functionality, in particular the authoring tools, conformance with document | |
structure, and the import/export of XML are not fully implemented in this Alpha release. The workflow elements and some | |
authoring tools are *mostly* implemented but some gaps remain. | |

Get Started with Annotum2Go | |
------------------------------ | |
To start Annotum2Go, follow these steps: | |
1. Unzip the contents of the distribution file to a local directory -- it even works from a USB drive! | |
2. Run annotum2go.exe. After the splash screen, Firefox Portable should start. | |
3. Click the big Annotum logo to start Annotum | |
4. For more details on how to use Annotum, please refer to Annotum2Go-getting-started.txt | |
Technical Notes: | |
* if you are using email (see below) you will want to change the email address for the | |
annotum2go account via Wordpress settings. | |
* You are not limited to using Firefox Portable -- any browser will work once Annotum2Go is running. | |
However, please note that if you close Firefox Portable, all annotum2go services (apache, mysql) | |
will shut down. This behavior is configurable in the Server2Go settings -- see | |
htdocs/documentaion/documentation.html for more information. | |
* If you want to receive email notifications from Annotum2Go, you'll need to set up a local SMTP server. | |
I can recommend MercuryMail for a simple SMTP smart host and client, but other mail servers may also work. | |
Please see readme-mercurymail-tip.txt for a tip on using MercuryC with your ISP's SMTP server. | |
