Installing GitButler on Windows via WSL

Installing GitButler on Windows via WSL - A Complete Guide

This guide will provide a complete walkthrough for getting GitButler setup and functioning on a windows environment using Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL).

Please note that GitButler on windows via wsl is not well tested and not officially supported, though one of the top priorities of the GitButler team is to get a working windows build out asap. For now, however this is the easiest solution I have developed.

Prerequisites:

  • You must be running Windows 10 version 2004 and higher (Build 19041 and higher) or Windows 11 for this guide to work correctly.
  • I highly suggest using the windows terminal app for doing all the command line work if you are not using it already, though this is not required.

A curated list of command-line utilities written in Rust

A curated list of command-line utilities written in Rust

Note: I have moved this list to a proper repository. I'll leave this gist up, but it won't be updated. To submit an idea, open a PR on the repo.

Note that I have not tried all of these personally, and cannot and do not vouch for all of the tools listed here. In most cases, the descriptions here are copied directly from their code repos. Some may have been abandoned. Investigate before installing/using.

The ones I use regularly include: bat, dust, fd, fend, hyperfine, miniserve, ripgrep, just, cargo-audit and cargo-wipe.

Obsidian on iPad syncing via iSH, git, and GitHub

Obsidian iPad syncing via iSH git

by Danny Quah, Jan 2022

This gist describes using Obsidian on iPad while syncing to other Obsidian platforms. The procedure uses git in iSH on iOS, and thus differs from using either Obsidian Sync or Working Copy as described in Obsidian/iOS+app.

(To be clear, Obsidian is one of my favourite Apps, and I'm all for supporting the team financially. Moreover, everything I've heard suggests the paid Obsidian Sync is excellent. However, I don't want my syncing processes to proliferate --- each service using a different client sync flow --- so I keep my systems minimal: just syncthing and git. After writing this I found an Obsidian Forum writeup which uses the same tools I do to achieve the same goal, but you'll want to read that with its accumulated contributions dispersed across the comments. So at least I was thinking

Expose Tailwind colors as CSS custom properties (variables)

This is a simple Tailwind plugin to expose all of Tailwind's colors, including any custom ones, as custom css properties on the :root element.

There are a couple of main reasons this is helpful:

  • You can reference all of Tailwind's colors—including any custom ones you define—from handwritten CSS code.
  • You can define all of your colors within the Tailwind configuration, and access the final values programmatically, which isn't possible if you did it the other way around: referencing custom CSS variables (defined in CSS code) from your Tailwind config.

See the Tailwind Plugins for more info on plugins.

Raise Open File Limits in OS X

in OS X 10.4 to macOS sierra 10.12 and maybe higher!

Create Launcher Script:

/Library/LaunchDaemons/limit.maxfiles.plist

Copy this entire code block and paste it into your terminal and push Return to create this file for you with correct permissions. It will (probably) ask for your password:

Smart Caps Lock: Remap Caps Lock to Control AND Escape

Smart Caps Lock: Remap to Control AND Escape (Linux, Mac, Windows)

Caps Lock 變成智慧的 Control 以及 Escape

  • 單獨輕按一下就是 Escape
  • 若按下時同時按著其他鍵,就會是 Control

這應該是 Vim 和 Emacs 的最佳解了!(Emacs? Bash 的快捷鍵就是 Emacs 系列的)

  • Send Escape if you tap Caps Lock alone.
