Hi Damien and Miriam,

First off, we're excited about the work you're doing in education, and we're very interested in helping you further visualize the evidence and stories behind the move from a focus on 'achievement' to 'progress'.

After discussing the discovery phase further, Alex and I decided think it'd be best to engage in this phase only within the framework of a larger product outlined in a contract. So we've outlined two products, each of which impacts the extent to which we engage in an intial assesment/discovery phase. Rough budgets for both options are below.

The first product is a microsite that can be integrated to a site built by someone like Flight Path (this site can also live as a stand alone or have a full screen option). This option is similar in scope to the NPR Census Map, and Amnesty International.

The second product is a much more comprehensive site, resulting in an overhaul of the school view site, with a new design, navigation, map interface, and d3.js visualizatoins across the site powered by JSONs and jekyll. We would work with your team in the assesement and planning stage to capture all of the stories you wish to tell to multiple audiences. Our team's extensive experience creating data narratives informs our ability to simultaneously meet your data and narrative goals in an integrated site experience. This option is closer in scope to our recent build of open.undp.org.

Again, these are rough budgets, but they give you a strong sense of the ballpark of each option. It'd be best to choose a direction before meeting on the 8th, since this decision impacts the scope of our strategy meetings.

Please let us know if you have questions, and when would be best for you to talk.

Best, Dave
