Installing Discord on Steam Deck

How to install Discord on Steam Deck tutorial

  • Steam Button -> Power -> Switch to Desktop
  • Discover App (Launcher -> System Discover)
    • Applications -> Internet -> Chat
    • Scroll to Discord -> Install
  • Launcher -> Internet -> Discord
    • Scan QR code to login
  • Steam Icon (bottom right) -> Library
    • Games Menu -> Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library...
    • Check box for Discord -> Click Add Selected Programs
  • Return to Game Mode (desktop icon)
  • Steam Button -> Library -> Non-Steam -> Discord
  • Play to launch Discord
  • Steam Button -> Control Settings -> (first time warning menus AAA) -> Edit Layout -> Trackpads
    • Right trackpad behavior -> As Mouse
      • R Click -> Left Mouse Click
    • Left trackpad Behavior -> As Mouse
      • L Click -> Right Mouse Click
  • Ready to use ... with the following recommendation for best behavior:
    • Launch Game you are going to play
    • Once game is loading
    • Steam Button -> Home -> Launch Discord (one again perhaps)
    • Join Voice Channel you want to be in
    • Steam Button -> Go back to your game
    • Enjoy discord voice chat.
