Boolean() or !! (double bang, double negation)?

What's the best way to answer the question "true or false?" in JavaScript

JavaScript does not bother you too much with types (at first), which is both a blessing and a cure. But we all know the Boolean type. Boolean variables can either be true or false. Yes or no.

Every value in JavaScript can be translated into a boolean, true or false. Values that translate to true are truthy, values that translate to false are falsy. Simple.

This is about two ways to make that translation.

Deep-Merge JavaScript objects with ES6
// ⚠ IMPORTANT: this is old and doesn't work for many different edge cases but I'll keep it as-is for any of you want it
// ⚠ IMPORTANT: you can find more robust versions in the comments or use a library implementation such as lodash's `merge`
// Merge a `source` object to a `target` recursively
const merge = (target, source) => {
// Iterate through `source` properties and if an `Object` set property to merge of `target` and `source` properties
for (const key of Object.keys(source)) {
if (source[key] instanceof Object) Object.assign(source[key], merge(target[key], source[key]))
}

Show the Description for the Current Branch
#!/bin/bash
#
# You can use `git branch --edit-description` to write a description
# for a branch, but Git provides no simple command to display that
# description. The "easiest" way to see it is via `git config --get
# branch.BRANCH_NAME.description`.
#
# This script automates that process and is meant to be used as
# a Git alias to provide a shorter command for showing the
# description of the current branch.
