Punkt MP02 Ubuntu 20 tethering

USB Tethering Punkt MP02 <-> Ubuntu 20

Problem -

USB tethering isn't working between my Punkt MP02 phone and any of my computers. I've tested on Windows, macOS, and Linux. WiFi tethering works. Troubleshooting is easiest with Linux so I'm going to use my Ubuntu 20.04 laptop.

Current behaviour -

The MP02 does not export a network device via USB when tethering is turned on.

Expected behaviour -

The MP02 should export a network device and DHCP services via USB when tethering is turned on.

Python private dependencies cheatsheet

I need to give access to a private dependency. It can happen for continuous integration or deployment.

Here we use python and github, using the services CircleCI and Heroku. However, the principles applies everywhere.

What is a deploy key?

See https://developer.github.com/v3/guides/managing-deploy-keys/

There are 4 ways of granting access to a private dependency, but deploy keys are a good compromise in term of security and ease of use for projects that do not require too many dependencies (in that case, prefer a machine user). In any case, do not use username/password of a developer account or oauth token as they do not provide privilege limitation.

Setting up your python development environment (with pyenv, virtualenv, and virtualenvwrapper)

Overview

When you're working on multiple coding projects, you might want a couple different version of Python and/or modules installed. That way you can keep each project in its own sandbox instead of trying to juggle multiple projects (each with different dependencies) on your system's version of Python. This intermediate guide covers one way to handle multiple Python versions and Python environments on your own (i.e., without a package manager like conda). See the Using the workflow section to view the end result.

Use cases

  1. Working on 2+ projects that each have their own dependencies; e.g., a Python 2.7 project and a Python 3.6 project, or developing a module that needs to work across multiple versions of Python. It's not reasonable to uninstall/reinstall modules every time you want to switch environments.
  2. If you want to execute code on the cloud, you can set up a Python environment that mirrors the relevant
