Using CTRL+W to close tabs in Visual Studio

In Tools | Options | Keyboard...

  1. Add CTRL+W as a Global shortcut for Window.CloseDocumentWindow
  2. Remove the CTRL+W shortcut for Edit.SelectCurrentWord

The caveat to this is if you are used to using CTRL+W to select the current word. If you do, find another shortcut that works for that.

LSCOLORS

The value of this variable describes what color to use for which attribute when colors are enabled with CLICOLOR. This string is a concatenation of pairs of the format fb, where f is the foreground color and b is the background color.

The color designators are as follows:

a black

PostgreSQL command line cheatsheet

PSQL

Magic words:

psql -U postgres

Some interesting flags (to see all, use -h or --help depending on your psql version):

  • -E: will describe the underlaying queries of the \ commands (cool for learning!)
  • -l: psql will list all databases and then exit (useful if the user you connect with doesn't has a default database, like at AWS RDS)

appinfo: A quick ruby script for Mac that returns some information for a specified Mac app in Terminal. Includes icon display if using imgcat or chafa are available.

appinfo

A script for getting details of installed Mac apps. Like Get Info but faster and cooler.

Save the script below as appinfo somewhere in your path. Make it executable with chmod a+x appinfo. Then just run appinfo APPNAME to get info on any installed app.

Remove SentinelOne agent from Mac. Because honestly, it doesn't seem to do anything at all. Run as root, best is to do this from a recovery mode, single user mode with writeable filesystem, ...

USE AT OWN RISK

This was only tested on a 'partial' SentinelOne installation on the High Sierra beta, where SentinelOne was never allowed to enable it's kernel extension. (Some things failed while I was messing around with OS betas.)

This script is most likely outdated.

A lot happens in 2+ years, at this point there's a good chance this script will do more harm than good. Read the comments before using!

A note about npm cli work status

When will npm@6.9.1 be released (and other PRs merged?)

On March 22, npm fired several members of the open source and community team for discussing workplace conditions and other labor organizing activities. As a result, core employee contributors to the npm cli were removed from the project, and others have left in solidarity or put their work on hold.

Multiple claims were filed with the NLRB on this matter. The NLRB has investigated and found sufficient evidence of validity to proceed. The National Labor Relations Act of 1935 protects US employees' right to engage in discussions of workplace concerns without threat of retaliation -- and awareness of the importance of how we treat each other is something I valued so much in collaborating with the cli team. How can we work together if we aren't free to discuss what we need?

It's disappointing for all of us to find the work we were doing interrup
