General Mac Shortcuts

Critical General Mac Shortcuts

  • Copy: Command + C
  • Cut: Command + X
  • Switch to recently used application: Command + Tab
  • See list of recently used applications: Command + Tab (Release tab and continue holding command. Select an app with left / right arrow)
  • Next window in current application: Command + ~
  • Open Spotlight: Command + Space

When Typing

  • Jump to end of line: Command + Right Arrow
  • Jump to beginning of line: Command + Left Arrow
  • Jump to end of word: Option + Right Arrow
  • Jump to beginning of word: Option + Left Arrow
  • Highlight everything: Command + R
  • Holding shift while moving your cursor with arrow keys or one of the shortcuts above will highlight the text.

I have a couple other useful Mac shortcuts:
Critical General Mac Shortcuts

  • Command + ctrl + Q to lock screen.
  • Command + shift + 3 quick screenshot
  • Command + shift + 4 quick custom screenshot
  • Command + shift + 5 quick video recording
  • Command + option + d to toggle dock

When Typing

  • Command + a to select all text.
