Minishift Team Goals

Minishift Goals

Big Hairy Audacious Goal (BHAG) aimed toward CDK

To provide the best and easiest platform for container-based development using RHEL as the basis providing best of the breed tools to create containers, eg. S2I, Buildah, to run on OpenShift

Team Goals

As part of the team's Continuous Improvement, we should as

Minishift team

  • persue to be able to run any openshift version on our ISO
  • learn and share about a new technology every cycle

Team Wishes

Ideally, we operate as a cross-functional group that has everything, and everyone, necessary to produce a working, tested increment of the software. For this we need to have knowledge about

  • networking
  • virtualization
  • kubernetes and OpenShift
  • OS and computing platforms
    • Windows
    • macOS
    • Linux (this includes that Argh Linux-thing! ;-)

At all times we should have at least 2 people that would know about these topics at all times. If not, they should be allowed to improve themselves during work time to obtain these skills.

+1

Addition to team wishes:

  • OCI tools
  • the OCI Spec, we should be very familiar with that, since Container Development Kit
  • Building linux bootable iso's, we should experiment and have bunch of them for the community ti try on
  • Maybe even have a simplified version of buildroot to make custom iso, so that users can easily add more/customized packages and build iso for their specific needs.

learn and share about a new technology every cycle

This is something we are lacking atm since we are mostly very centric around minishift development only and don't explore upcoming or available technology for container ecosystem.

Mention "Evolutionary software" towards "Release early, release often"
