As the Hackathon is coming up, we've decided to polish our website a little. It's still work in progress, but finally the questionnaires are included. Some are still missing ;-)

Thanks to Michael and Sebastian for their work on the new website! Let us know what you think!

  1. Hackathon on Dec 1st/2nd

Michael is in touch with Philipp, the organizer of RHoK in Berlin. There will be something between 30 - 60 attendees, the way we can support it best is with PR and suggestions of problems the attendees can hack on. They just got rejected by 2 sponsors, so might need to downsize for it, but there is a plan B so the event will definitely happen.

  1. First contact with Nairobi

We've taken up contact with the iHub in Nairobi. First contact was positive, the iHub is generally interested in cooperating, introducing us to the community, providing space for us. More detailed steps will be discussed when we have fixed dates and clearer ideas for the events we would like to hold.

We've asked our contact at iHub in Nairobi, Rachel, for contacts to Hubs in Uganda, Tanzania and Ruanda but have not yet received feedback. Rachel did mention though that we'd most likely be able to build the contacts by simply addressing the hubs as the community is generally responsive for new ideas.

  1. Team meeting on Monday

Our 2nd Google Hangout is scheduled for this Monday, Nov 11 at 7pm berlin time (every timezone)

This meeting will be mainly about

  1. What needs to be organized per location that we visit
  2. the Hackathon on Dec 1st / 2nd

Our own location hosts are Anya, Christoph and Martin. We are still looking for one for Rwanda. Our head for the hackathon is Michael. So you guys should definitely be on the meeting. The rest is warmly invited to brainstorm, share thoughts and give feedback.

Find the agenda here: https://www.minutes.io/shared/wx8r9wt

Let me know if there is anything else you'd like to put on it

  1. Vacant team roles

  1. Rwanda Location host

You'll team up with Anya (Kenya), Martin (Uganda) and Christopher (Tanzania) to make sure everything gets organized in the Rwanda Chapter as it does in the other locations. You won't need to do all the work, we've a great team willing to help, it's just your responsibility that things are getting done.

  2. PR / Blog / Twitter

As our mission is to connect our own communities with the emerging African ones, it would be great to use Twitter / Blog / You name it to highlight interesting stories, projects, and individuals. But also within the team it would be great to have a curated "MUST READ" - list to keep us excited. Again, I see this as a team effort, but somebody has to kick asses ;-)

  3. Misc

  • Gregor will be on vacation aka offline from Nov 25 to Dec 19th
