- Friday or Saturday: Harding starts writing
- Sunday afternoon/evening: Harding opens PR
- Monday: other contributors add their content and provide initial reviews
- Monday evening/Tuesday morning: Harding makes initial edits
- Tuesday: contributors provide final reviews
- Tuesday evening: Harding makes final edits
- Wednesday: Schmidt squashes and merges to the website, sends email newsletter, and posts to Twitter
In order to keep to that schedule, Harding usually doesn't include any news that occurs after he starts writing Saturday morning, with a few exceptions:
-
Important security disclosures can be added (any time)
-
Minor updates to items already in next week's draft newsletter (up to Tuesday afternoon)
- Major updates to an already-written item may result in us bumping that item to next week's newsletter
-
Anything that's really easy to describe, such as a new software release (up to Monday evening)
-
Anything interesting if we don't have any other significant news for the week (up to Sunday afternoon)
