snoonet drama
first, the DNS went out.
Then:
21:11:11 -!- Netsplit *.net <-> *.split quits: t0mcat, GodOfAtheism, edk, Krenair, Paradox, BaconOverdose, Nebraska, jonbgud, LostInInaka, MAssEy, (+125 more, use /NETSPLIT to show all of them)
Then after:
23:09:04 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP 1ZYAAAAAU: Every one thank Kyle for attempting to destroy Snoonet. This is the thanks we get. His name on freenode is Kyle, and he is 16 years old.
23:09:25 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP 1ZYAAAAAU: We will be restoring every thing
23:10:38 < 2S1AAAAAC> Kyle removed all of the configs, and then destroyed the hub in which every thing was connected
23:10:42 -!- 2S1AAAAAC is now known as rdv1
23:10:46 < rdv1> rebuilding services now
23:10:48 -!- lessobvious [zubsero@97.100.165.130] has joined #reddit
23:10:51 < rdv1> he's 16 years old.
23:11:01 < rdv1> this is why you NEVER give kids power.
23:11:15 < rdv1> if every one moves back to freenode, I don't blame you.
23:11:26 < rdv1> I'm going to contact my lawyer and his mommy's going to get a call.
23:34:22 < hintss> lol
23:34:30 -!- halfnhalf [~halfnhalf@128.172.234.227] has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
23:34:42 < hintss> the account "Kyle"'s account metadata on freenode
23:35:00 < rdv1> KyleXY
23:35:06 -!- Jaya [~angelofbo@b0fbed22.bb.sky.com] has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
23:35:19 < hintss> rdv1: same account
23:35:34 < rdv1> ah, yes.
23:35:45 < rdv1> tell him how much of a 16 year old cunt he is.
23:36:53 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP rdv1: To fill every one in: Kyle (on freenode: Kyle) has sabotaged Snoonet, wiping its DNS, and killing off the servers. We can apologize for the inconvenience, but we're too pissed. We'll be bringing services up shortly
And later (imagine services bouncing in and out many times during this):
01:15:12 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP rdv1: Re: http://snoonet.com - Abruptly (without notice) pulling the hub with zero intentions of allowing us to continue for the communities that call us home, not giving us the proper configs or uttering a single word to any one, then pointing the domain to your blog reflects being a 16 year old.
05:35:06 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP rdv: Services have been returned. Sorry for the drama, we'll have a lot to post about. Airmandan is attempting to get hosts working, I've been at it for a good 8 hours; for immediate ip-hiding /mode <yournick> +x
05:49:18 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP rdv: Hosts are working properly
06:03:54 [snoonet] -Global(Global@services.)- [Network Notice] rdv (rEdv) - After all our hardship, the servers have returned, every thing has been moved to the .org TLD and services are mostly working (Shoutouts to Airmandan). Thank you all for your support, and apologies for childish drama. Naptime.
11:32:16 [snoonet] -Global(Global@service/Global)- [Network Notice] Paradox - Sorry about all the service interruptions, we're still getting up to speed. When we're through, we'll have everything running better than before
17:39:05 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP airmandan: IRC services will be unavailable for approximately 1 minute starting at 8:40:00PM EST
22:17:19 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP rdv: We'll be debugging services so if you see it restart, we're working on it. All of us very tired but we'll get it sorted out. Our apologies, and we appreciate your support (to opt out of wallops /mode <yournick> -w)
23:04:50 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP rdv: Default usermodes on connect have been set to: +ix (invisible, and auto-hide ip). Wallops have been removed from the default modes on connect
03:20:50 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP airmandan: test post please ignore ;)
03:32:43 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP airmandan: Sorry about the services bouncing in and out there. That was all intentional, and it's done now.
15:19:36 [snoonet] -Global(Global@service/Global)- [Network Notice] Paradox - We're going to be doing some rerouting in the next few minutes, so apologies for any bumps. Should take between 5-10 minutes.
17:25:30 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP rdv_: In approx one hour, we'll be moving the servers to a second hub, as the first hub needs some maintenence and a reboot. Those wondering why your IP addresses are garbled when you connect, we autoset mode +x upon connect, for your safety
17:26:29 [snoonet] -!- WALLOP rdv_: We will be configuring the servers, obtaining a new SSL cert, and adding ipv6 support (as the old domain owner of .com pulled our ipv6 tunnels as well)
18:25:17 [snoonet] -Global(Global@service/Global)- [Network Notice] rdv (rEdv) - We've moved all of our servers to a secured hub, with the intentions of being able to always keep Snoonet connected. We will be obtaining a new SSL cert, and adding in IPv6 support once again. We will post some small news via wallops so /mode yournick +w if you'd like to read them. Thank you!
20:38:51 [snoonet] -Global(Global@service/Global)- [Network Notice] rdv (rEdv) - IPv6 has been added to irc.snoonet.org - Until it propagates for all people, ipv6 users may connct to 2600:3c00::f03c:91ff:fedf:a1f3 which is one of the addresses for now. We will be adding a valid SSL certificate tonight for users using SSL. We are making our recovery from the catastrophe. Thank you all for staying with us during this transition period!
http://snoonet.com/ (now offline, no clue when that happenned)
