(C-x means ctrl+x, M-x means alt+x)

Prefix key

The default prefix is C-b. If you (or your muscle memory) prefer C-a, you need to add this to ~/.tmux.conf:

remap prefix to Control + a

The difference between JavaScript's `exec` and `match` methods is subtle but important, and I always forget...
var str = "The quick brown fox jumped over the box like an ox with a sox in its mouth";
str.match(/\w(ox)/g); // ["fox", "box", "sox"]
// match (when used with a 'g' flag) returns an Array with all matches found
// if you don't use the 'g' flag then it acts the same as the 'exec' method.
str.match(/\w(ox)/); // ["fox", "ox"]
/\w(ox)/.exec(str); // ["fox", "ox"]

Git pre-commit check to stop accidental commits to master/main/develop branches.
#!/bin/bash
# This gist contains pre-commit hooks to prevent you from commiting bad code or to the wrong branch.
# There are six variants that I have built:
# - pre-commit: stops commits to master/main/develop branches.
# - pre-commit-2: also includes a core.whitespace check.
# - pre-commit-3: the core.whitespace check and an EOF-newline-check.
# - pre-commit-4: only the core.whitespace check.
# - pre-commit-5: elixir formatting check.
# - pre-commit-6: prettier formatting check.
# Set the desired version like this before proceeding:

[How-to] Use GitHub Desktop to clone and commit to a Bitbucket repository just as you would with any GitHub repository. (Mac)

⚠️ Note: this guide is from 2016 – a long time on the internet. Content may be outdated, check the comments for more recent info.

Clone Bitbucket Repository and Add it to GitHub Desktop App (Mac)

You can’t clone a Bitbucket repo using GithHub Desktop directly. Instead you would have to:

  1. Clone the Bitbucket repo locally via command line.
  2. Add the cloned repository to your GitHub Desktop app.
