It had been 3 days, and Sharol was still playing in the fields where the houses were set to be built. The rain poured but Palome and Dillie had had enough. They dropped the logs and stones they were carrying and walked back to the cart, now sitting in a shallow puddle of mud and footprints. The light of a fire glowed nearby, and they walked towards the smoke, their stomachs retching and growling. Simer and Hele were crounched by the fire, watching Earnestia roast the potatoes. There were still at least a hundred potatoes left in the cart, but slowly and surely, the families that had completed their houses had sequestered their allotments, leaving little for the Conniel tribe. Where they had assisted the others, few felt inclined to help them.
Their houses completed, they set about the same idling that they were used to. Few seemed worried about the coming winter.
Kaiyann and Kyman were the first employed citizens of the town.
Hele the builder died of starvation before the fishery opened. Terrica the child also died. Kyman the woodcutter died of starvation.
Conniel died.
The reserve of firewood is low.
PEOPLE ARE FUCKING STARVING TO DEATH WHEN THEIR NEIGHBORS HAVE HUNDREDS OF POTATOES
The fishing dock completed construction. They instantly hired the first 4 citizens who showed up at the door. Selene, Rancisco, Sharol, and Kaiyann were now tasked with feeding the town.
Sharol lived alone in his house. His wife had died while the rest of the town relaxed in their newly built homes while his stood unerected. They had rationed off the potatoes after building the first three houses, Ignoring Sharol and his starving family.
Sharol finally had some fish to eat and a warm house to sleep in.
The hunting lodge is under construction and Simer is excited to start hunting.
Everyone is fishing all day and there is no one to build the mess hall.
Palome has no education and idles around the town in the snow.
The cold winter sets in with snow and wind. A child name Mychale is born. Kaiyann becomes the first hunter of all the families.
Mychale crawls off into the snow and crawls back before anyone notices.
Myleen marries Sharol, they both work down at the fish dock.
Rancisco and Kaiyann have 3 children; Rodolf, Earnestia, and Glyndsay.
Rodolf is given the job of building his own house now that he is old enough to get a job, but Selene takes over the job when Rodolf catches a fever after spending several nights working in the rain.
Simer, Rancisco, and Selene have have a great day of hunting and share stories of the motherland.
Rancis the woodcutter tells everyone the supply of logs is low. Annmarice doesn't have enough people to help her maintain the forestry.
Rodolf moves into the house that Selene finished for him but there is no food to eat. Glyndsay moves in with Rodolf after a fight with her parents about her career as a forester.
More adults need jobs and homes.
