Taking the Mother India Cafe for granted as the best restaurant in Glasgow, my other choice joints would be either the Wee Lochan in Broomhill or Number 16 on Byres Rd if you're pushing the boat out.
Some lesser known recommendations would be Usha's, the veggie Indian place recently opened and currently occupying the cursed premises at Partick Cross (so catch it while you can), or Wudon, a wonderful Japanese(ish) place in Kelvinbridge. There's also the unsalubrious but welcoming Dumpling Monkey also on Dumbarton Rd for amazing chinese dumplings and bowls of steaming noodles. All three are surprisingly cheap.
While I find most places in Fannieston to be over-rated and over-priced (if you want that kind of thing, the train to Edinburgh is at least every half hour), I really like Shilla, a very authentic Korean place that serves amazing spicy broths in stone bowls perfect for a wet autumn day.
Lastly, the madman responsible for the Pakistani Cafe has recently opened a new cafe in Mansfield Park called Roti and Chai and it is every bit as good, and eccentric, as the old Pollokshaws Rd place was. I could go on. I am utterly accepting of my wanky wendy foodie identity.
