Ongoing course notes for Idahosa's Flow School

I often write detailed walk-throughs of difficult learning projects I take on.

This document serves as the same, a bit of an active scratch pad, and a way to quickly ask detailed questions of my team, and perhaps provide detailed answers for my team.

1. I am not on a leaderboard, but I want to be

Today I got this email:

If you're receiving this message, there's either low or no points next to your name on the scoreboard.

2. How to get on leaderboard

I agree, and in the next hour or two (max) I want to fix this problem, because I don't want to have to choose from:

Please let me know by tomorrow 12pm which option you prefer:

Option A: Join Weekend Warriors
Option B: Stay on current team
Option C: Neither

I'd like to stay on current team, so I've got work to do to avoid either option A or C. I wanna contribute to the score rather than drag it down.

First instructions from Idahosa

Hey guys! This is your team! Here's what to do now:

  1. Copy/paste your intro video here (done, here's my video: Josh Thompson's intro video
  2. Watch the other teams videos and comment (i'll do first thing tomorrow) (

done!

  • John is from Texas, wants to travel to latin america
    • Kathleen is from seattle, finds spanish to be a beautiful language, wants to travel to latin america,
    • Kory wants to learn many languages, starting w/spanish, is from TN and living in california RN in an RV!
  • Michèle is our Flow Facilitator, she's here to help us with the program. She lives in Portugal, learning Portugese, and speaks Spanish and French already? Or at least enjoys and is learning those languages
  1. Arrange a time to meet for video conference

I added a link to my calendly, the easiest way for others to book calls with me, though I'll still have to book calls with others. https://calendly.com/joshthompson/flexible

I'm stuck here I think and missed our conferences. Are there notes I can read instead?

  1. Go over team agenda on conference, and post screenshot to #intentions for points

Josh's answers to the Team Meeting Agenda questions:

  1. Icebreaker: What song did you share for your intro? What do you like about it?

Bad Bunny! Mía I find Bad Bunny's pronunciation and cadence to be particularly difficult, so I want to be able to keep up with him. I want to get good at this, so I might as well target someone that feels difficult, rather than someone who speaks slowly and "clearly".

I also like Drake's spanish. Feels a bit easier to keep up with, and he's Drake! I love bilingual singers.

  1. Review: go through each activity, and make sure everyone is clear on the instructions.

That's the purpose of this document, figuring out each activity and if I'm clear on the instructions. So far, so good.

  1. Planning: Each person set two intentions - a humble and an ambitious one.

This last week was extremely busy and constrained, more so than most of my weeks for the last year. Terrible week to start Flow School, but I'm gonna work hard (and smart!) and catch up this weekend and next week, then keep the pace up and get "ahead", or really, just spend a lot of time digging into each exercise, getting TONS of repetition.

  1. Sharing: Each person write out your intentions for the week and post it to #intentions

  1. Push each other to win!
