Testing the UX of Open Source

Next week, in Austin, Bitovi is looking for a few people to test CanJS's user experience. It will be a great opportunity for a lucky few to:

  • help out open source
  • learn a new technology stack
  • and get paid doing it

If you are interested, please fill out this form.

Why do UX testing on CanJS?

We want CanJS to be a very pleasant and productive experience for developers. While we get informal feedback all the time, especially from our trainings, we've never actually watched someone use our product the way most people use it.

This is, ironically, in stark contrast to what we do with the applications we build, where user experience testing is mandatory.

We finally realized our mistake and are trying to fix it.

What is the UX of OS?

What is the user experience of a JavaScript library like CanJS? Surprisingly, we think it has more to do with the documentation and guides then the actual functionality and APIs.

So we are planning on testing a new getting started guide.

The plan

Participants will walk through the guide, and then build a small app.

By having participants build a small app on their own, it will help us identify gaps in our guides and docs that we can fill in.

Blah blah blah.
