Morning thoughts
Zen
I wake up and I'm not feeling great but manage to get ready. My wife is taking me to the train station
and I have a bad brain fog, a bit of a headache, and can feel my blood pressure is up. I decide to
try to meditate and make my mind go to a peaceful place and start my day off better.
I close my eyes and visualize a mountain monastery looking out over rows of mountains with clear blue skies.
Then I realize there is a village below and there's a lot going on.
...Well...
This isn't the peace I'm going for. I decide its night now and you can see all of the stars and the mountains
are dimly lit by the moonlight. This lasts a second or two before the morning glare back in the real world shines through my eyelids. Damn!
Not giving up I change places to a wide-open beach in the early morning with crisp cool salty air. What could be more refreshing?
Its just me I'm sitting back off of the surf watching the waves come in, topple over, thin out into a foamy sheet
and leave back to the endless ocean. I let myself hear the wind and the infinite low roar of the ocean from all of
the accumulated falling of waves. Then I can hear the seagulls. An intrusive thought comes smashing in. There's a
seagull back behind me in a trash bin pulling garbage out and flinging it around.
So much for a peaceful mind.
