Tatiana Mac's Speaker Rider

Speaker Rider

by Tatiana Mac

Last updated 14 April 2021

What is a speaker rider?

As speaking comes with immense privilege, I have crafted a speaker rider to set expectations and boundaries around my engagement. I am grateful to all the conference organisers who have brilliantly hosted me. I would love to continue to exercise this privilege to speak at conferences, and use this privilege to make the landscape more accessible and beneficial to tech's most historically excluded and marginalised communities.

Considerations

😫 I provide a lot of explanations for those of you who never had to consider these things. Most thoughtful conferences I've attended check most of these boxes intrinsically, particularly when conference runners are experienced speakers. They get it.

Octopress image plugin with additions for @2x and lazy loading
# Title: Simple Image tag for Jekyll
# Authors: Brandon Mathis http://brandonmathis.com
# Felix Schäfer, Frederic Hemberger
# Brett Terpstra
# Description: Easily output images with optional class names, width, height, title and alt attributes
#
# Additions: insert img/grey.gif and data-original for lazy loading
# insert @2x data attribute - this uses an htaccess rule that serves the
# 1x if no @2x version exists.

Detect a tap on a URL inside a UITextView. Note: the rs_links method isn't included -- you'll need something that takes text and returns an array of detected links. This gist just demonstrates walking through the UITextView characters.
@implementation UITextView (RSExtras)
static BOOL stringCharacterIsAllowedAsPartOfLink(NSString *s) {
/*[s length] is assumed to be 0 or 1. s may be nil.
Totally not a strict check.*/
if (s == nil || [s length] < 1)
return NO;

Flexible DefaultKeyBinding trick to continue plain text lists
// Add to (or create) ~/Library/KeyBindings/DefaultKeyBinding.dict
// Incorporated change by Lri to not require additional words on the line to work
// fixed to handle first character of list item being non-alphanumeric
// Issues:
// If there are more than one symbols ([[, ![, etc.) at the beginning of the line, anything beyond the first one is captured and added to new line
// FIXED: Entering more than one blank item in a row and then using ⌘Z leaves a placeholder character on the previous line.
