"lo nu se zdani" in English
"AT HOME"
A short, [???] story.
A) My house is so sturdy! It's got no trouble keeping me safe from the snow.
B) Did you hear about the snowfall in the nearby city?
A) Oh yeah, I heard, yikes. This blizzard is really too strong.
A) But, I tell you, it's no match for my lovely house! Not to mention it's got a fireplace, and there's tea... Ah, please, B, come inside!
B) Wow, sounds like it'll blow my socks off -- I'll gladly come in.
C) Excuse me! Sorry -- excuse me!!
A) Um... yes?
C) Oh, I'm terribly sorry. Have you seen my dog?
A) Listen, neighbor [jbini ↔ jibni?]… I've *tried* to find it. You don't have to ask me anymore, okay? I'm sorry about your dog, but there's nothing I can do!
C) Have you tried all you can?
A) Everything.
C) Really?
A) What, you don't believe me?
A) You think this is my fault or something!??
C) Oh, oh, I'm so terribly sorry! I'll leave you alone! I'll figure it out!
B) Hey, stop! What the heck are you arguing about?!
A) Sorry about that. I dunno if they just want to pick a fight, or what.
B) Why? Are they just a weirdo?
A) Yeah.
B) Huh... okay, then...
A) So, *their* dog,
A) —the poor thing—
A) has gone missing. It's probably run off somewhere far away.
B) So are you kidding when you say "poor thing"?
A) Oh, totally. Well, mocking it, even. I don't like that dog. Or them, gah.
A) And they — my neighbor — don't like *me*.
B) I see. Hey, so, shall we enter your lovely house?
A) Yeah, yeah…
A) Blah, now my neighbor's spoiled my good mood!
b) Ah… oh, we should have some tea.
b) Thank you, [for the?] comfort.
A) Yeah. [?]
A) So, there's more to the story. See, they keep asking me about that dog. [*fe tu'a?] They've *somehow* convinced themselves that I've taken it.
B) Oh. …And were you honest with them just now? [*rore'u ↔ roroi?]
A) [Do you think … might feel guilty?] [???]
b) [Hey, I'm not talking about guilt! I'm talking about their mind. Why they [*to → tu?] would think you feel guilty. That's all I'm saying.]
A) Oh, but there's even more! The first time [*pare'u ↔ paroi?] the asked me, they went… "Did you check your walls?" So of course, I said, "come again?" And unbelievably they slowly asked again, "did you check your walls?"
A) So I went, "what?!" I now realized they wanted me to look inside the walls of my house, of all things. They figured their dog was inside the walls.
B) No way.
A) I swear, that's what they said.
B) NO WAY.
A) What, why don't you believe me? Is it *too* ridiculous? *Too* weird?
B) So did you check what's inside?
A) OH COME ON, B, WHY WOULD I HAVE PUT A DOG IN THE WALLS? OF COURSE IT'S NOT IN THERE.
B) I… I could just take a look.
A) HEY, YOU DIDN'T EVEN START DRINKING
*crash clang bang bam!*
B) I found it.
A) You're messing with me.
B) No, seriously. I don't know what to say. But I really found it.
A) You did not.
B) Listen. Buddy. Why did you—
A) LOOK, I DIDN'T! I DON'T KNOW!
B) I don't get this at all. I've got a bad feeling about this…
