    Before starting, make sure you have a backup, and make sure to have a linux live boot ready to rescue your system. It's easy to mess this up!

Use gdisk to convert the partition table to GPT.

gdisk /dev/sda


Create the "BIOS boot" partition that GRUB needs.

n to create a new partition. Needs to be about 1MB. You can probably squeeze this in from sectors 34-2047. Use L or l to look up the code for "BIOS boot" (ef02).


Write the new partition table.

w


Reload the partition table.

    Disclaimer: Please follow this guide being aware of the fact that I'm not an expert regarding the things outlined below, however I made my best attempt. A few people in IRC confirmed it worked for them and the results looked acceptable.
Attention: After following all the steps run gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders --update-cache as root, this prevents various gdk-related bugs that have been reported in the last few hours. Symptoms are varied, and for Cinnamon the DE fails to start entirely while for XFCE the icon theme seemingly can't be changed anymore etc.
Check the gist's comments for any further tips and instructions, especially if you are running into problems!

While I love SVG (sprites) there are a lot of issues to take into account.
Advocating The Most Accessible Markup

UPDATE: you should take a look at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/145744/accessible-svg-icon/test.html which seems a simpler and more robust approach
Another thing: since people copy-paste our code examples it would be great if we could advocate the most robust and accessible markup IMO.
I am no a11y expert, but in my understanding we could/should take some extra steps to make out SVG sprite icons more accessible.

I run a self-hosted auto-updating Firefox add-on being used by several million people.  I am informed that I will need to "sign" it soon or it will quit working.  (Deadlines are unclear; it seems like it may be as soon as June 30th.)  I am looking for exact instructions as to how to make this happen.
I am not finding these instructions, so I am doing my best to puzzle things out.
Googling for things like "how to sign a firefox add-on" get me a lot of false leads. Mozilla should take down or at least modify these pages with current information:
