Infrastructure & Setup

  • Desk (height) & chair (comfort)
  • Internet access (cable) & backup (mobile phone)
  • Access to company infrastructure & tools (VPN / SaaS)
  • Comfortable headphones / headset
  • Make sure to have a separate room where you can close the door

Security

  • Attacks to remote working tools (e.g. Zoom URLs)
  • Provide list of approved tools to your employees
  • Check for approval of remote working tools from your Infosec

Plan your Day

  • Stick to routine
  • Share calendar with your team
  • Take regular breaks / set up an alarm
  • Drink enough

(Team) Rituals

  • Stand-up & Stand-down
  • Virtual coffee breaks
  • Open social (video) chats
  • End the week together
  • Regular feedback (retrospectives), adapt WoW if necessary

Kids & Remote Work

  • Show your children with whom you are talking to

  • do not disturb other people unnecessary
  • first try to find an answer / solution on your own
  • use the search to find a solution
  • disable notifications for less-important channels / email / social media...

  • talk about distributed teams instead?
