Greetings Recharge crew!
Just because you’re not hiring doesn’t mean you shouldn’t know who I am! My name is Mike Hernandez and I’m currently a student at the Turing School of Software and Design. I found you on BuiltinCO and was not only excited because of your purpose but because of you! Even though I’m new to tech, I’m not new to working on motivated, small teams and having repeat customers has been the staple of my career.
I come from the the world of retail so when I watched your ‘about us’ video talking about customer retention through technology I totally got the message. I definitely see the power of automated ordering and how it benefits everyone involved!
And of course, there’s no need to work in a place where everyone keeps to themselves and is afraid of fun which is how I’ll be able to contribute from day one! I’ve thrived in small groups focused on a common goal for years. I’ve always been an integral part if not the leader of my team and would love to show you how bright I can shine.

Mike: Time management and setting up the DTR and following it.
Daniel: Most went well, started off had a good sense of what we could do now and what we could accomplish later. There was a good balance. We learned a lot and did a good job with our pairing sessions.
Mike: We were slowed down by pairing, but not sure if we could have gotten around it in this project. Overall everything went pretty smooth.
This question was posed in Mod3 Session 1 GearUP: Who is the developer you want to be
This will apparently be an ongoing Gist but here's my thoughts after today's topic of bias in the workplace:
Getting into tech will be a big deal and will be a whole new landscape to navigate. In my previous career I've really been surrounded by people like me who make similar (customers who make far more) than what I make salary-wise. People who look the same, come from similar backgrounds and who have similar interests. One of the things I was excited about when I attended Try Coding was that I was around new people! People with different backgrounds, people of different ages, races, sexes, it was as I told EllenMary "Refreshing."
I'm looking forward to continuing to be a person who is excited to be around new people with more things to talk about and who have different needs. This person has kids, this person has a certain workout routine, this person celebrates these holidays etc...
It's also nice to learn f
Please describe the current vision you have for your career. What are the values that will drive your job search? What are your goals for your job search? What kind of role do you see yourself pursuing in your job search?
After finding a job and getting into tech, I see myself progressing quickly. In my previous career I continued to climb the ranks no matter the company and I don't see why that should change now. I have been a leader in all my group projects so that again makes me think I'll move into some sort of lead role.
As I look for jobs I think the teams and the people will be a large determining factor. During my professional career I have only worked for three different companies and don't tend to leave jobs often. I hope I will be able to find a home that doesn't force me to leave every year - although that might just be what the industry is like.
I am aware the job search will not be a one and done kind of situation. It will be difficult for me to not think of each non offer as a failu
As we've discussed, meeting people, forming relationships, and having conversations are the key pieces to getting your foot in the door at any company. It's important to be proactive in your approach to outreach and networking, so it's necessary to make a plan for what you'll try to further your networking.
Identify a contact you will reach out to by the end of this module. This could be a mentor, alum, or anyone from your current network. Describe:
Before this PD was assigned I had already tried to keep my few tech contacts open. I reached out to the three people I know, (my mentor, and two other Truing alums) asking them some general questions that came up during PD sessions. In an effort to actually build my network, I found another person to reach out to.
- Who your contact is, why you want to connect with them, and what you want to talk about
I will reach out Aaron Careaga (yet another Turing alum!). He is the husband of one of my wife's co-workers at Denver Health

I really liked that we stayed consistently ahead. We also had a really good group dynamic.

I was really surprised how we were able to consistently stay together and stay ahead during the whole project.

What is one thing that went unusually well during this project?
Um... the project? Ha! I was really impressed that we were able to stay consistently ahead. I was also impressed with the lack of major disasters. This was my first 4 person project (I was in a group of 3 for the group project in M1) and it was one of the smoothest projects I've been a part of.
DTR: Define the Relationship Use this template when conducting DTR with your project partners. It's recommended that you copy/paste this template into your own gist each time you conduct a DTR to take notes on the conversation.
Guiding Questions to Define The Relationship:
What are each of our learning goals for this project? What drives us in this project?
Last project I suffered from not understanding MVC and some other things like when and where to uese AR methods. I feel a lot better on them now and would really like to feel like I am able to implement them properly.
What is your collaboration style? How do you feel about pair programming vs. divide-and-conquer approaches?
