London places

London is freaking amazing. There are things to do everywhere. There are amazing restaurants from all over the world. It's impossible for me to write down all the best places I've been to there, or all the places I wish I had time to visit. But here's a list nonetheless.

Markets

  • Camdem: the largest market of London, it's full of street food from all over the world, weird stuff, odd clothes, hipster bars but it's also packed with people during the weekend. If you go for late lunch you'll get plenty of free samples and discounts.
  • Bricklane: is the next big hipster market, it's only one long street but it has something to it. It's a lot of food of course, but you'll also find clubs and bars as it is in the trendy shoreditch district of London. An alley with pop up stores as well.
  • Brixton pop: smaller than the previous two markets, this one is more of a nice place to drink during the evening/night. A container garden if you will.
  • Mercato Metropolitano: much smaller, but has a nice beer garden vibe.
  • Borough Market. Go there to buy groceries, or street food, or drink mulled wine during the winter. Very charming market.

Restaurants

  • Thai: Smoking Goat. Best restaurant in London. It moved to Shoreditch and is always packed with people who've heard of it.
  • BBQ: Bababoom. Best classy kebab of London. It's quite small and always packed so you might have to book to get there. It might look simple and cheap, but it is delicious! Everything is charcoaled :)
  • Vietnamese: Sen Viet. Authentic vietnamese next to train station of St Pancreas. Order all the starters! Phat Phuc Noodle Bar is really good as well.
  • Indian: Ma Goa. It's hard to recommend an indian place, there are a lot of good ones. I heard of gunpowder but never been. Talli Joe can be hit or miss. Dishoom has always too much wait. So Ma Goa it is.
  • Chinese: My Old Place. This place is like a very good canteen in China. I love it. Could eat there every day. Take the dry hot pots, the disanxian, the yuxiangjiaozi, the dumplings, ... Silk Road is also very good. I've heard a lot about The Sichuan but I have never been.
  • Burmese: The Shan State. It has great food, but it also has amazing deserts!
  • Bubble Tea: Yifang Taiwan Fruit Tea.
  • Israeli: Bala Baya. EVERYTHING is good there. All these tapas with yogurt and kimchi and ... I just want to go back there. The Barbary is similar and very good as well, but more pricey.
  • SriLanka: Hoppers Soho. This place has the best dosa, and everything is freaking good as well. Often a lot of wait.
  • Turkish: Pitted Olive. Everything is good there, not sure if they have seats though.
  • Taiwanaese: JIABA. Take some luroufan and add some egg and sausage. Next door is the dumpling shack, they have some better than average spicy wonton and shuijianbao.
  • Japanese: Tomoe. The best japanese in London. Believe me I've looked everywhere for it. It is Tomoe.
  • Spanish: El Metro. Good Tapas.
  • Italian: Made In Italy is amazing. Get their fried pizza :) Donna Margherita is really good as well. For the price, Franco Manca never fails.
  • Korean: Hana Korean never fails.

Bars

  • 4 thieves is a bar, but it's also a huge arcade game place with Virtual Reality headsets, racing remote controlled cars and a mini golf.

Cafes

  • TY Seven Dials. Go there to work with your laptop.
  • Social Pantry. Good food. Good wifi.
  • Citizen M @ southwark. Technically not a cafe, but they act like one. It's superb, they have everything from breakfast in the morning to alcoholic beverage at night time.

Pastries

  • L'ETO. EVERYTHING THERE. EVERYTHING. But, above all, the safran dulce de lece ;_;

What else?

  • Neal's Yard. A tiny court in the center of London, right next to Seven Dials. Filled with restaurants and people drinking wine.
  • La Bodega Negra. I never ate there but I always enter to show my friends.
  • Waterstones @ Picadilly Circus. It's a huge bookstore. It has a cafe on the first floor, but it has another cool cafe downstairs, and it also has one on the last floor. Love this place.
  • Harrods. It's famous for being a clothing store I believe, but they also have plenty of food stuff on the first floor!
  • Canary Wharf. It's nice :)
  • Sky Garden. Is a nice indoor rooftop thing. You need to book to visit and you probably won't spend much time there. But it's worth it for the view :)
