Updated to match latest changes to API

In Google Developer Console inside your app project, on the Credentials section, you must create a new "Service Account" "Client ID", if you have not already. And download the JSON file.

On Google Play Developer Console you have to give permissions to "YOUR_SERVICE_ACCOUNT_EMAIL@developer.gserviceaccount.com" for uploading apks.

Installation

Download Google APIs Client Library for Python (google-api-python-client): https://code.google.com/p/google-api-python-client/ or use pip:

$ pip install google-api-python-client

Execution

python basic_upload_apks_service_account.py -p your.package.name -a apk-file.apk -s service_account.json

Based on https://github.com/googlesamples/android-play-publisher-api/tree/master/v2/python and https://developers.google.com/api-client-library/python/start/get_started#installed

Hey,

I always get the error message when trying to access Google play store resources using service account:

googleapiclient.errors.HttpError: <HttpError 401 when requesting https://www.googleapis.com/androidpublisher/v2/applications/<my_package_name>/edits?alt=json returned "The current user has insufficient permissions to perform the requested operation.">

The fact is that the service account email automatically generated should be given appropriate permissions for accessing but the user needs to accept the invitation from Google Play, how should we do that?
