PD Story Draft by: Michael Schneider
I am an artist. I spent many years honing my skills in illustration, painting and dance. However, as the years went by it became more obvious I needed to transition to the digital realm. I started this journey by acquiring a deep knowledge of Photoshop. This certainly allowed for growth, however I was hungry for even more. I was aware of website design, but didn't know how to tackle the problem. I spent more than a year practicing tutorials and picking up some basic HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Still, I couldn't do much beyond producing and hosting simple sites for family and friends.
I decided my biggest shortcoming was not having a network of like minded individuals in reach. More than a few acquaintances recommended I explore Turing, a software and design school. On my first expedition to the school I realized these were exactly the people I was seeking. Now some months into studying my acquisition of new skills has skyrocketed. Once simple websites have blossomed into polished interfaces with large data-models. I am on the cusp of integrating my previous design skills with my new knowledge in software development. I'm excited to create beautiful and immersive works that allow for deep audience engagement.
