I wrote a really simple JavaScript script that uses jQuery to extract all the categories from Facebook's "Create a page" page.
- Navigate to the Create a page page.
- jQuerify the page.
- Open up your JavaScript console of choice and run the following script:
L1 cache reference ......................... 0.5 ns
Branch mispredict ............................ 5 ns
L2 cache reference ........................... 7 ns
Mutex lock/unlock ........................... 25 ns
Main memory reference ...................... 100 ns
Compress 1K bytes with Zippy ............. 3,000 ns = 3 µs
Send 2K bytes over 1 Gbps network ....... 20,000 ns = 20 µs
SSD random read ........................ 150,000 ns = 150 µs
Read 1 MB sequentially from memory ..... 250,000 ns = 250 µs

# This is an example of metaprogramming in the Elixir language.
# | |
# We will define a domain specific language (DSL) for the definition
# of a service which is watched by several sensors.
# Each sensor watches some property/functionality of the service and
# returns the result of the check.
# | |
# To determine if the service is functioning properly, we need functions
# to run all the sensors' code and gather the returned data.

# This module is a starter Ruby client for your REST API, based on Faraday:
# | |
# It supports HTTP basic authentication, sending and recieving JSON, and simple error reporting.
# I use this as a basis for building API clients in most of my Ruby projects.
# | |
# Use it like this: | |
# | |
# http = GenericApi.connect('http://localhost:3000/', 'myname', 'secret') |
This runs a build for a small elixir (phoenix) project in about 40 seconds by caching as much of the compiled files as possible.
We've been using this for months in multiple projects without any issues. Please ping be if there is any issues with this script and I'll update it.
It should be generic enough to work on any elixir app using mix.
If you have a elixir_buildpack.config
, then enable that section in the build script to keep versions in sync!
2016-08-09: Updated to newer Erlang and Elixir and fixed curl command.
